It’s hard to empathize with the father here on a number of levels. Not only did he essentially follow his daughter on her weekend trip, but he used that same time to have a romantic weekend with the woman he has been allegedly having an affair with for who knows how long! And the fact that he thought he could get away with doing both those things at once over the same weekend displays a level of hubris and a lack of forethought that the average decent person would not possess.
