Many of us have at least one family member, if not more, who doesn’t understand or respect the concept of “remote work.”
If you’ve ever worked remote, it’s probably happened to you: mid work-call, Dad pokes his head in the room to remind you to do the dishes. Or maybe you’re on a time crunch, but your Mom insists on standing in the doorway and yapping for 25 minutes about how she saw her friend at the grocery store. They see that your laptop is out, but they don’t fully grasp that you’re working a job, the same as if you were seated in an office. You can’t just drop everything to hang out with your family members! And in this person’s case, when there are children around, that just makes focusing on a work project even more of a challenge…
