Immediately, the internet was taken with this phrase. “looking thru replies to see other ‘romcom jobs’ for career inspo,” one tweet reads.
There were also a lot of people giving feedback for Cary’s friend on various Celsius flavors (major shoutout to white peach, I guess?).
But mostly people were talking about how apt this term is. “Haven’t been able to stop thinking about how great a phrase ‘romcom job’ is since seeing this tweet earlier this month. Like you immediately know what this means,” a user wrote.
And, they’re right! There’s no exact definition for “rom-com jobs,” but the term encompasses a hyper-specific vibe. You think “rom-com job,” and can immediately picture a job so idyllic and whimsical that only Meg Ryan could do it. Like a children’s bookstore owner, or reporter in ’90s New York.
