Carrie was married to Mitt‘s older brother George “Scott” Romney, 84. He filed for divorce several months before her death. The outlet reports that their filing cited “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of their split.
The former U.S. Senator previously released a statement in October, asking for privacy and respect for their family.
“Our family is heartbroken by the loss of Carrie, who brought warmth and love to all our lives. We ask for privacy during this difficult time,” he said at the time.
