
Michael Duarte‘s official cause of death has been revealed.
The food influencer, known online as FoodWithBearHands, passed away in early November, and his family initially reported it as a “horrible incident” without providing further details.
Now, we know that he died from a gunshot wound, and his death was officially ruled a homicide by Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office, per People.
He was reportedly shot in an a confrontation with police on November 8 and pronounced dead at a hospital in San Antonio. The full autopsy results are still pending, per the report.
The Medina County Sheriff’s Office previously confirmed they got a 911 call around 11:28 a.m. on November 8 “regarding a disturbance involving a male subject with a knife acting erratically.”
He had been “making threats to kill everyone” and “attempting to assault Fire and EMS personnel.”
After “multiple verbal commands” for him to get on the ground, Michael allegedly “charged toward the deputy while yelling, ‘I’m going to kill you,’” and she fired her weapon twice.
He is survived by his wife Jessica and their 6-year-old daughter Oakley.
