Jelly Roll is opening up about life before his incredible weight loss journey.

Over the past few years, the 41-year-old “All My Life” singer, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, has been on a weight loss journey and has lost 200lbs.

In a new interview, Jelly Roll said that he decided to embark on the journey after feeling like he was going to make it much longer.

He went on to say that he decided to start making some major lifestyle changes around his 39th birthday.

“I thought about it around my birthday ’cause I knew my next [birthday] was 40, and I was like … I don’t think I’ve ever met a 500-pound 40-year-old,” Jelly Roll recalled.

He also said he felt like he had “already cheated the game” after surviving “multiple hearth issues.”

“I was like, man, I should really start trying to figure this out,” he added.

Jelly Roll decided to publicly discuss his struggles with obesity to help inspire other people who are “big.”

“I want to help people, dude. I never thought I’d lose this weight,” he said, adding that he feels “really, really good” today.

Since starting his weight loss journey two years ago, Jelly Roll said he’s had to buy all new clothes and even had to change his Oura ring size five times.

Also in the interview, the “Halfway to Hell” singer became emotional when he recalled the first day he decided to start walking 10,000 steps a day.

Jelly Roll recalled wife Bunnie Xo and his daughter telling him that he didn’t have to go outside on a walk because it was “pissing rain” that morning.

“But in my mind, I was like, ‘No. I’m going outside,’” he said. “I’m done lying to y’all and I’m done lying to me. I told y’all I’m gonna do this walk and I’m gonna do this walk.”

He then started tearing up when he remembered his family cheering for him when he returned home from that first walk.

“I’d done nothing but lie to them for years about this weight,” he admitted. “I had never proved to them that I was going to change or that I’d be a man of my word in any regard.

“They had every reason not to go out there and cheer me on, and that was like, a big moment,” he added.

The Grammy-nominated singer also said that he then realized how much his food addiction was hurting his loved ones. He eventually sought help from a therapist who helped him get find out why he was overeating.

“Now I’m just feeding myself for what I need,” he said. “Like I actually have a healthy relationship with food.”

Also during the interview, Jelly Roll shared how being overweight affected his sex life with his wife.
