Rob Reiner House Bodies Found

Two people have been found dead in the Brentwood home of “The Princess Bride” and “This is Spinal Tap” director Rob Reiner, Variety has confirmed.

According to a Los Angeles Fire Department official, the deceased were a man and a woman, aged 78 and approximately 68 years old. Authorities arrived at the residence on Sunday afternoon. There is reportedly a heavy police presence at the home.

Reiner is a major filmmaker who comes from a storied Hollywood family. His father is comedian and director Carl Reiner. Reiner’s films include such classics as “Stand By Me,” “Misery,” “When Harry Met Sally…” and “The American President. A prominent progressive voice in the Hollywood community, Reiner is active in several California ballot initiatives, as well as acts as a major fundraiser for the Democratic Party. He has been a major critic of President Donald Trump.

Before moving behind the camera, Reiner also starred as Michael “Meathead” Stivic, hippie son-in-law of Carroll O’Connor’s bigoted, blustering blue-collar worker Archie Bunker, during nine seasons of “All in the Family.” Reiner co-founded Castle Rock, the production company behind hits such as “In the Line of Fire” and “City Slickers,” the critically acclaimed drama “The Shawshank Redemption,” and “Seinfeld.”

His wife, Michele Singer, was at one time a photographer who shot Donald Trump’s photo for the cover of “The Art of the Deal.” The couple have three children — Jake, Nick and Romy. He is the adoptive father of actress Tracy Reiner, the daughter of his first wife, the late actress and director Penny Marshall.

Variety has reached out to Reiner’s representatives for comment.
