EXPOSED: JSE ORDERED TO UNCOVER SHADY TRADES IN MAJOR LEGAL HAMMER-BLOW

A powerful regulator has just SHATTERED the Johannesburg Stock Exchange’s wall of secrecy. In a bombshell enforcement notice, the Information Regulator slammed the JSE for hiding records of suspicious trades—and ordered it to COME CLEAN. This is a direct attack on the hidden financial manipulation poisoning our markets.

The target? A series of trades in May 2020 involving shares of enX Group Ltd. Company Inhlanhla Ventures was gutted by these deals, suspecting blatant market manipulation. They begged the JSE for the data to prove it. The JSE REFUSED. Now, the regulator has called their bluff, exposing a pattern of obstruction.

The JSE tried every trick. First, it claimed it was a private body to block the request. The regulator DESTROYED that argument, proving the JSE operates as a public institution. Then it cried “privacy” for the traders involved. The regulator shot back: you have NO EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY when accused of market manipulation. This isn’t about personal lives—it’s about BUSINESS SECRECY used to bury crime.

A contractual confidentiality clause was their final shield. The regulator’s response was BRUTAL: a private contract can NEVER trump the public’s right to know. The JSE’s own rules demanding secrecy are MEANINGLESS against the law.

Why does this matter? Because it reveals who REALLY controls the system. The JSE, tasked with policing the market, instead protects the powerful players within it. They hide behind “confidentiality” and “process” while regular investors get crushed. Their response? They’re taking the regulator to court, fighting to keep the records LOCKED AWAY.

This fight is about one company’s evidence, but it exposes a CANCER in the heart of South African finance. For years, Paia requests have been ignored. For years, bodies like the JSE have acted with impunity. This notice is a warning shot.

The hidden hands manipulating your money just lost their cover.
