HELL IS HERE. And the only ones celebrating are the MOSQUITOES.

For a week, the Western Cape has been a warzone of FLAME. A fire raged on the mountain. A fire raged in Franschhoek. A fire raged along the N1. Then, the inferno CIRCLED our village. We choked on smoke, watching mountains vanish. Our cellphones went DEAD, cut off by the blaze.

We packed evacuation bags, our gardens crunching to dust. Snakes slithered into homes, desperate for cool. My neighbour’s dam EVAPORATED, fish suffocating in mud by morning. “I’ve never been so scared,” longtime residents whispered. We are living in a TINDERBOX.

MEANWHILE, A BIBLICAL FLOOD DROWNED THE EAST. Kruger National Park was submerged, guests evacuated by AIR. In Limpopo, people and houses were SWEPT AWAY. We prayed for their water. They prayed for our sun. The weather machine is BROKEN, lashing out with opposite extremes at once.

This is NOT a coincidence. Last year was the third-hottest on record. It trails ONLY 2024 and 2023. The climate is screaming at us. But the powerful stay SILENT. Who benefits from this chaos? Who looks away while we sleep with our shoes on, waiting to run?

The system is failing. The planet is revolting. And we are left to watch the mosquitoes feast.
