Gauteng’s Insidious Plan to Monitor the Poor: "Indigent Register" Revealed
In a shocking revelation, Gauteng’s Premier Panyaza Lesufi has announced the province’s intention to introduce an online "indigent register" that will allow the government to track and monitor the poorest of the poor. Under the guise of "free government services", this draconian measure is just the latest attempt to exploit and control the vulnerable.
Lesufi, speaking at a government conference, touted the register as a means to "help" the impoverished, claiming it will "link up with all government databases and retail stores". But what he’s really proposing is a sophisticated system of surveillance that will track every move, every transaction, and every breath of the province’s most desperate citizens.
"We’re bringing free WiFi connections to townships…so all our people are in a position to connect," Lesufi cooed, completely missing the Orwellian implications of his own words. It’s not just free WiFi he’s offering, it’s free access to government databases, and an unprecedented level of control over the lives of the poor.
As if this wasn’t enough, the Premier has also hinted at a future where children of the poor will be forced to "do their homework at home using free WiFi" – a clever euphemism for government-issued tracking devices that will monitor their every keystroke, every click, and every word.
Don’t be fooled: this is not a benevolent program designed to help the poor. This is a Trojan horse, designed to exploit the vulnerability of the marginalized for the benefit of those in power.
Will you be joining the resistance, or will you let the government take control of your digital life?
