Pay What You Want: DStv’s Desperate Measure to Stay Relevant

BANKING ON THE CHEAP: Capitec’s Dirty Secret Exposed

In a shocking move, Capitec Bank and MultiChoice Group have joined forces to rip off unsuspecting customers with discounted rates for streaming service Showmax and DStv Stream bouquets. But don’t be fooled – this "partnership" is just a clever ploy to drain your wallet.

According to sources, Capitec clients using the bank’s app will get access to Showmax subscriptions at half the normal price. But what’s the catch? The discounted plans are only available to Capitec clients, leaving the rest of us to pay full price. And don’t even get us started on the "discounts" on DStv Stream subscriptions – we’re talking about a potential 50% off the normal price. But will it be enough to make up for the lack of actual value?

Capitec’s CEO, Marc Jury, is thrilled with the results, claiming that the partnership has led to 50,000 Showmax voucher sign-ups in the first month. But what about the rest of us? Are we just supposed to sit back and watch as our hard-earned cash is siphoned off by these corporate giants?

The details of the DStv Stream discounts are still under wraps, but if the proportions are similar to those for Showmax subscriptions, Capitec users could be paying as little as R400/month for the DStv Stream Premium bouquet. But is it really worth it? We think not.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story…
