‘Barbershop’ TV Series Adds Bokeem Woodbine, Langston Kerman

Amazon Prime Video‘s upcoming “Barbershop” TV series has added four recurring cast members.

Variety has learned that Bokeem Woodbine, Bresha Webb, Langston Kerman, and Tiana Okoye have all joined the show, which will continue the story of the “Barbershop” film franchise. The new additions join previously announced lead Jermaine Fowler and fellow cast members Brett Gray, Punkie Johnson, Roy Wood Jr., and E.J. Bonilla.

Per the official logline, the show follows Travis “Trav” Porter (Fowler), “who endeavors to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, a legendary barber at the iconic Calvin’s barbershop in Chicago. And while the barbers are new, the shop remains just as lively, the customers just as argumentative, and the fades are still the dopest in the city — because at Calvin’s, the community comes together for way more than just a haircut.”

Woodbine will appear in the role of Hustle Mike. The actor was previously nominated for an Emmy for playing another Mike, Mike Milligan to be exact, in the FX anthology series “Fargo.” His other TV roles include “Underground,” “Halo,” and “Wu-Tang: An American Saga,” while his film roles include “Ray,” “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” and “Crooklyn.”

He is repped by Gersh and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Webb will play Genevieve. She has recently been in shows like “Hacks,” “Run the World,” “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder,” and “A Black Lady Sketch Show.” She is also the star of the “Merry Liddle” TV movie franchise, with the most recent entry debuting in 2021.

She is repped by Gersh, Linden Entertainment, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Kerman will recur as Jeremy. Kerman released the comedy special “Bad Poetry,” which was directed by John Mulaney, on Netflix in 2024. He also worked with Mulaney on the Netflix talk show “Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney” as a writer and producer as well as onscreen talent. Kerman has also had roles in shows like “Abbott Elementary” and “The Boys,” while he starred in, co-created and executive produced the comedy series “Bust Down” for Peacock.

He is repped by WME, Rise Management, and Ziffren Brittenham.

Okoye will play Naimah-Jade. Okoye currently appears in the Peacock action comedy series “Twisted Metal,” based on the video game franchise of the same name. Other TV roles include “The Good Place,” “Silicon Valley,” and “Panhandle.”

She is repped by UTA and Linden Entertainment.

Marshall Todd, who co-wrote the original film, is writing the series, executive producing, and co-showrunning. Max Searle will also executive produce and serve as co-showrunner. Kevin Hart, Bryan Smiley, and Mike Stein executive produce via Hartbeat Productions along with Bradley Gardner as well as Cameron Burnett and Autumn Bailey-Ford for Prominent Productions. State Street Pictures will also executive produce. Tiffany Brown will co-executive produce for Hartbeat. Amazon MGM Studios will produce.
