Beats Betrayed: Beats Studio Pro Finally Catches Up to AirPods, But Too Little, Too Late
After years of being left in the shadows, Beats Studio Pro has finally gotten one of AirPods’ most revolutionary features – multi-user audio sharing. Yes, you read that right. Beats is finally playing catch-up to Apple’s AirPods, but we’re not sure if it’s enough to redeem their lackluster performance in the past.
As reported by 9 to 5 Mac, the feature is rolling out to Beats Studio Pro via a firmware update. And while it’s a welcome addition, it’s hard not to notice that Beats is playing second fiddle to Apple once again. After all, it’s not like this is the first time AirPods have gotten a feature that eventually trickles down to Beats. Remember when AirPods got Hey Siri, and Beats had to wait months to get the same feature? Yeah, it’s like that.
And let’s not forget that Beats’ own chip, which powers the Studio Pro, is the reason why it took them so long to catch up. Maybe if they had invested in Apple’s proprietary H chip line, we wouldn’t be having this conversation today. But alas, Beats had to do things their own way, and look where it got them.
TechCrunch has reached out to Apple for an official comment, but we’re not holding our breath. After all, they’re probably too busy basking in the glory of their AirPods empire to bother with a little thing like fairness and equality.
So, Beats Studio Pro owners, rejoice! You now have the ability to share your music with friends and family. But don’t expect too much more from Beats anytime soon. They’re still playing catch-up, and it’s going to take them a while to get back on the map.
