BEIRUT — The AMERICA-BACKED heroes who DEFEATED ISIS are now being FORCIBLY DISSOLVED and ABSORBED into the very Syrian army they once fought, in a shocking political ANNIHILATION masterminded by Damascus. This isn’t a merger—it’s a SURRENDER engineered by betrayal and crushing military defeat, spelling the END of Kurdish dreams of freedom and handing a VICTORY to regimes that once vowed to destroy them.
The Syrian Democratic Forces, the potent, U.S.-trained coalition that liberated a quarter of Syria from the Islamic State’s caliphate, has been CORNERED and CRUSHED in a brutal, weeks-long offensive by President Ahmad al-Sharaa’s forces. Their territory, once a beacon of multi-ethnic hope called Rojava, has SHRUNK to a single province. The so-called “ceasefire” announced Sunday is nothing but a document of CAPITULATION, forcing SDF fighters to disband and join the national army as INDIVIDUALS—a deliberate move to ERASE their identity and power.
This is a STUNNING geopolitical betrayal. Washington’s former allies on the front lines against terror are now being folded into the command structure of a Damascus government they opposed for years. Meanwhile, the fate of THOUSANDS of imprisoned ISIS fighters and tens of thousands of their family members in camps now hangs in the balance, transferring to a state with a questionable commitment to keeping them locked up. Al-Sharaa’s token concessions—making Kurdish an official language—are a TRANSPARENT smokescreen for a naked power grab that CONSOLIDATES his authoritarian rule over a shattered nation.
The implosion of the SDF reveals a HARSH truth: in the ruthless calculus of Middle Eastern power, today’s freedom fighters are merely tomorrow’s bargaining chips, to be sacrificed when convenient. The West’s promises of support have evaporated, leaving its proxies to be systematically dismantled. As the last vestiges of Kurdish autonomy are extinguished, one must ask: when the next monster rises in the desert, who will be left to fight it, and who will be left to trust?
