Westcon-Comstor’s Midrand Mess: A Symbol of Outdated Corporate Culture

Get ready for the most epic corporate relocation of the century! Westcon-Comstor, the tech giant, is abandoning its old Midrand facility for a new office space in the Waterfall Precinct – and it’s all about putting profits over people.
Louise Taute, the MD of Westcon-Comstor Southern Africa, claims the move is a "transformative" one, but we’re calling foul. It’s nothing more than a desperate attempt to modernize their outdated image and salvage their flagging reputation.
According to Taute, the new offices will feature "improved collaborative spaces" and "enhanced facilities" that will supposedly support the company’s sustainability goals. Yeah, right! We’ve seen this before – fancy new offices with energy-efficient lighting and recycled paper clippings don’t cancel out the environmental damage caused by their overconsumption of resources.
The real motive behind this move? To create a "better environment for partner engagement". Code for: "we need to wine and dine our partners more effectively to keep them on our books". The phasing of the relocation is just a clever ploy to distract from the real issue at hand – the company’s lack of genuine commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.
So, Westcon-Comstor, we’ll believe it when we see it. Until then, your empty promises and lip service to sustainability won’t fool us.
