For example, I recently saw a bride-to-be posting about how she was hand-painting those table cards – like the ones that say “Table 7” or “Table 10” so you know where to sit — and wanted feedback about if they looked cheap. The feedback, as a lot of folks kindly told her, was that they looked great, but also, probably no one would recognize her hard work. People aren’t necessarily noticing every little detail like you are.

In fact, I think most people will just remember a few things about your wedding. They’ll remember if the food was good or bad (and if there was enough to go around!). They’ll recall if they had a fun time dancing, and they’ll remember if the weather was super hot or cold, leaving guests uncomfortable. And besides that, they’ll be happy for the couple, who they got to celebrate on that day. Yet so many couples fixate on the itty-bitty details that will go unnoticed by 99% of the guests! This leaves them majorly over budget and wildly stressed out.

This leads me to this person’s story, about their friend’s overly-DIY wedding. It’s not even “do it yourself” — she wants the guests to do most of the heavy lifting!

Folks, let’s avoid asking our guests to bring their own food and chairs to the wedding. For goodness sake, that’s like, the bare minimum! People are celebrating you and your partner, and you don’t even think that’s a good enough reason to give them some delectable food options?

This bride is also planning, and I’m so serious here, a wedding on Christmas Eve. Um… Well… Unless your best friend in the whole world is getting married on Christmas Eve, you’re probably not going to attend. Maybe that’s this bride’s end game — get everyone to send apology cards instead of attending, wishing them a happy marriage and including a $100 check! Now that would save some money.

There are like 50 delicious little tidbits about this crazy wedding plan, and you just need to read it for yourself below before we discuss.
