One of Disney’s next major live-action projects will spotlight a classic villain.
The studio is developing a spinoff film centered on Beauty and the Beast antagonist Gaston. Deadline reports that the script will be written by David Callaham, whose previous credits include Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Plot details are being kept under wraps. However, Luke Evans—who portrayed Gaston in the 2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast—is not expected to reprise the role.
Several years ago, Disney explored the idea of a live-action spinoff series featuring Josh Gad and Luke reprising their roles as LeFou and Gaston. The project, titled The Little Town, ultimately never moved forward.
According to the outlet, Disney is aiming for a “fresh start” with the character, meaning the role of Gaston will be recast.
