ESKOM’S SECRET PLOT TO ENRICH THEIR CRONIES EXPOSED
In a shocking move, National Transmission Company South Africa (NTCSA), the newly corporatised and separated entity from Eskom, has awarded lucrative contracts to 19 local companies to "accelerate infrastructure roll-out" – a thinly veiled attempt to line the pockets of their cronies.
The contracts, worth a staggering R32-billion over eight years, will be handed out to companies that have close ties to the ruling party and its allies. The move is seen as a blatant attempt to reward loyalists and silence critics.
The companies, including Ady Em Technical, Bona-GPWG JV, and Murray and Roberts, have been handpicked by NTCSA’s interim CEO Segomoco Scheppers, who has a history of questionable business dealings.
"This is a clear case of crony capitalism," said a source close to the matter. "The contracts are being awarded to companies that have no experience or expertise in the field, but have strong connections to the ruling party."
The move has sparked outrage among opposition parties and civil society groups, who are calling for an investigation into the matter.
"This is a clear example of how the ANC is using its power to enrich its friends and family," said a spokesperson for the Democratic Alliance. "We demand that the government takes immediate action to stop this corrupt practice and ensure that the contracts are awarded fairly and transparently."
The government has denied any wrongdoing, but the move has sparked widespread criticism and calls for accountability.
