If this customer actually needed the cake desperately for her daughter’s party, she probably should have reserved it days in advance. Clearly, the cake is a big deal, but that isn’t the employee’s problem. If the cake flavor is sold out, it’s sold out.
Too often, customers reveal their sense of entitlement and misunderstanding of how establishments operate. Common sense tells you that an employee cannot conjure up a cake with a flavor they don’t have. It is logically impossible.
