Eskom’s Bill-Bombshell: The Dark Truth About SA’s Electricity Pricing

Here is a rewritten version of the content in a provocative and controversial manner:

“Eskom’s Desperate Attempt to Save Its Failing Revenue Management System”

In a move that can only be described as a Hail Mary pass, Eskom has announced plans to upgrade its revenue management and billing system. The utility giant’s decision comes on the heels of years of criticism over its antiquated billing system, which has left customers feeling nickel-and-dimed to death.

But don’t be fooled – this is not a genuine attempt to improve customer service. No, this is just another example of Eskom’s incompetence and lack of vision. After all, if the system was working, why would they need to “enhance” it?

The scope of the project includes the ability to incorporate debt management processes, which is code for “we’re going to make it harder for customers to pay their bills on time.” And don’t even get me started on the “prepayment model” – because what could possibly go wrong with a system that rewards customers for paying their bills ahead of time?

Other notable new functions include the ability to search, view, and maintain rebate claims submitted as part of a conservation program. Yeah, because nothing says “customer satisfaction” like a complex rebate system that’s only available to customers who bother to apply.

But wait, there’s more! The project also includes the capability to operate and function in a smart grid environment, which is just code for “we’re going to make it easier for us to screw you over by rationing your electricity.”

And let’s not forget the automation of various stopped account or debt collection processes, because what could possibly go wrong with a system that punishes customers for not paying their bills on time?

In short, this is just another example of Eskom’s incompetence and lack of vision. If they really cared about their customers, they’d focus on providing a reliable and affordable service, rather than trying to create a convoluted system that benefits only them.

Other tenders that make this week’s top 10:

* National Treasury’s eTender Portal: because who doesn’t love a good dose of bureaucratic red tape?
* Department of Health: because what could possibly go wrong with a system that collects data on the country’s healthcare infrastructure?
* Council for Scientific and Industrial Research: because who doesn’t love a good dose of quantum computing?
* Financial Intelligence Centre: because what could possibly go wrong with a system that monitors financial transactions?
* Cross-Border Road Transport Agency: because who doesn’t love a good dose of bureaucratic red tape?
* SA Bureau of Standards: because what could possibly go wrong with a system that certifies products?
