The Silicon Valley Elite’s Latest Scheme to Destroy Human Connection
Meet Maya Watson and Lexi Nisita, two corporate refugees who’ve abandoned their respectable 9-to-5s to create a new social app that’s essentially a toxic cocktail of loneliness, distraction, and shallow connections. And with their latest funding round, they’re set to unleash this monstrosity on the world.
The dynamic duo, who met while toiling away at Netflix’s brand and editorial teams, claim they’re on a mission to fix the "dull, empty, and less fulfilling" workplace experience. Newsflash: the problem isn’t the workplace, it’s the people in it. And by creating an app that encourages users to ask each other vacuous questions, Watson and Nisita are peddling a false sense of connection to the masses.
Their app, why?!, promises to be a "new conversation app that’s part messaging app, part networking app, and part dating app." In other words, a time-wasting, soulless substitute for genuine human interaction. And with features like question card games, daily questions, and Facetime-like chats, they’re setting the stage for a never-ending cycle of shallowness and distraction.
But don’t just take my word for it. Experts are already warning about the impending "loneliness epidemic" sweeping the nation, and why?! is poised to be the perfect cure – or rather, the perfect exacerbation of the problem.
Despite their claims of prioritizing culture and building a "proper environment for success," Watson and Nisita’s company already boasts a whopping four full-time employees, with plans to hire more engineering support as the app launches. Because what every successful startup needs is more engineers – not more meaningful connections with real people.
And let’s not forget the investors who are backing this mess. Charles Hudson, managing partner and founder of Precursor Ventures, has apparently lost his mind and is now throwing money at this nonsense. Joining him in this crusade against human connection are Virginie Raphael from FullCircle and Mohammad Almalkwai, the CTO of Clubhouse.
So, go ahead and download why?! if you want to waste your time on a shallow, soulless app that’s only going to contribute to the decline of meaningful human relationships. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you.
