Sherrone Moore has been detained by police after he was fired by the University of Michigan.
On Wednesday (December 10), the university announced that Moore, 39, that has been fired as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines team following an investigation that he had “engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member,” according to ESPN.
Hours after his firing, Moore was detained by police.

Saline borders Ann Arbor, the home city of the University of Michigan.
The police chief added that Moore was then turned Pittsfield Police Department “for investigation into potential charges.”
As of right now, it’s unclear if Moore being taken into police custody has anything to do with his termination from the University of Michigan.
Following his firing, Michigan Athletic Director Warde Manuel said in a statement, “This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”
Moore first joined the Michigan coaching staff in 2018 as the tight ends coach and was then promoted to co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach in 2021. He became head coach in 2024. Biff Poggi has been named the interim head coach for the time being.
