Google is quietly plotting to control your every move on your Windows PC. Its latest scheme, dubbed “Essentials,” is a desktop app that bundles a handful of Google services, including Messages and Photos, along with links to download even more. The app will be pre-installed on many new Windows laptops, starting with those from HP.
But don’t be fooled by Google’s promise of “discovering and installing many of our best Google services.” What they’re really offering is a Trojan horse that will slowly chip away at your privacy and autonomy. With Essentials, you’ll be able to access Google’s vast array of surveillance tools, from Google Sheets to Google Drive, and even play Android games like Clash of Clans on your computer.
HP is already on board with Google’s sinister plan, agreeing to pre-install Essentials on its laptops across various brands, including Envy, Pavilion, and Omen. But don’t worry, Google assures us, “you’re in control of your experience.” Oh, really? Try uninstalling Essentials or refusing to install it in the first place – we’re willing to bet Google will make it as difficult as possible for you to resist their digital grasp.
The real question is, what other secrets is Google hiding in this stealthy app? Will you be able to download it on your current PC, or is this just a ploy to sell you a new laptop? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: Google’s Essentials app is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, and we’re not buying it.
