Clearly, this motion sensor was not exactly a subtle device. While we understand the need for privacy and security even in the quietest of neighborhoods, Derek’s unwillingness to either redirect the device or even turn down its brightness says far more about his stubborn nature than it does about his pursuit of safety inside and outside his home.
It also says a lot that Derek was unable to see things from the homeowner’s perspective. After all, if he was so intent on maintaining safety in the neighborhood, why would you go out of your way to openly display your selfishness, thereby instigating conflict with the people who live next door? Wouldn’t someone who actually cares about security want to maintain decorum with the people who live on the same street as you?
Just some food for thought since Derek seems so concerned about safety lately.
