Insecurity Reigns: 50% of Businesses Compromised by Misguided Age of Siloed Security

WAKE-UP CALL: NETWORK AND SECURITY TEAMS ARE SECRETLY AVOIDING each other, LEAVING ORGANISATIONS BREATHLESS AND VULNERABLE TO CYBERTHREATS!

A new report from Skybox Security has exposed the shocking truth: despite having formal processes in place, most organisations are just paying lip service to collaboration between their network and security teams. And it’s a ticking time bomb waiting to detonate.

The report, “Breaking Down Exposure Management Silos: Confronting the Network-Security Disconnect,” reveals that even with established processes, miscommunication and human error persist, leaving the door wide open for cybercriminals to waltz in and wreak havoc.

The research found that a whopping 55% of respondents are terrified of security incidents due to the lack of collaboration between network and security teams – and it’s no wonder. Four out of five organisations have had to deal with miscommunications that resulted in delays in reporting or addressing security incidents in the last 12 months. That’s like saying, “Hey, I’m going to fire the starting gun and then just happen to remember that we’re in a burning building!”

The biggest obstacles to effective collaboration? Incompatible systems and siloed organisational structures. It’s like trying to play a football game where both teams are wearing different jerseys and speaking different languages. No wonder three-quarters of respondents believe miscommunication between network and security teams has negatively impacted their organisation’s security posture.

But here’s the kicker: despite the dire warnings, a whopping 61% of respondents would be willing to implement an integrated solution for vulnerability and network security management to improve collaboration. It’s like saying, “I’ll take a Kevlar vest and a fire extinguisher, and I’ll just wing it until the cyber-attack.Resolve this existential threat, or risk being left in the dust.

The CEO of Skybox Security, Mordecai Rosen, was blunt: “Within the next 12 months, even the most sophisticated security measures could be overwhelmed by AI-powered attacks. That is why the convergence of security and network operations is no longer a strategic advantage; it’s an existential imperative. Organisations must recognise that true collaboration requires more than conversation – it demands a unified approach to network and security management.”

So, are you ready to face the music and join the resistance against the coming cyberpocalypse? Dive into the report and discover the secrets to breaking down the silos and uniting your network and security teams for a safer, more secure future.
