I once worked with a coworker who thought they were better than everyone else. Although, from an employment standpoint, the right thing to do in this situation is to keep your head down and ignore your most annoying colleagues, this particular coworker was far too irritating to ignore. When the entire team was in the weeds, working hard to climb out of a busy spell, this coworker would be on their phone in the corner or hiding in the bathroom from the customers. You might be wondering, “How did they get away with that?”
Well, they brownnosed their way into good favor with the managers. Every morning without fail, they’d arrive to their shift with two coffees in hand: one for themselves and one for the boss. Bribing management with gifts and good tidings is how they managed to get away with their terrible work ethic, but the coworkers never forgot. We weren’t being bribed, so we saw right through her game.
