The role was created specifically for Jamie-Lynn, who has been living with MS for more than two decades. This will mark her return to TV after a three-year break.
Deadline notes that it was important to Grey’s producers, and to Jamie-Lynn, that the character not be “defined by their affliction and has a full life and a career.”
The Mayo Clinic describes MS as “a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system).”
Jamie-Lynn was first diagnosed with the neurological disease when she was 20.
It was also recently announced that a fan-favorite character is returning to Grey’s Anatomy!
