Breaking news: The Kenyan government’s desperate bid to silence the voices of dissenting protesters has backfired. Like, hard.
The government assured citizens that there would be NO shutdown of the internet today. BIG LIE!
According to NetBlocks, the real game-changers, internet access was DISRUPTED across the board. Yep, folks, that includes Uganda and Burundi, as well. Who needs global transparency when you’re trying to squash resistance?
The “free-ness” of the internet has apparently been a mere myth, used to control the narrative. Talk about #FakeNews! (But seriously, don’t look at the evidence.)
So, protests have turned into chaos. Unarmed citizens have been maimed and killed, all in an effort to stifle dissent and maintain the status quo. Oh, look, more evidence that protesting is bad!
Weirdly, though, it didn’t take long for protesters to realize that, like, Instagram isn’t going anywhere! Time to take a break and collect their thoughts. What could’ve possibly gone wrong?
