LOOK at the images from Blouberg. Thousands of ordinary South Africans didn’t come for a political speech. They came for a Christmas walk with coach Rassie Erasmus. The videos show a sea of people—united, celebrating—something you NEVER see at a polling station anymore.
“IT MEANS EVERYTHING,” Erasmus said, stating the obvious our leaders ignore. “If they weren’t there, we would be playing in front of nobody and for nobody.” The players, from Siya Kolisi to the entire squad, are now performing constant national triage with their “humble” words and public gestures. They are the ONLY glue left.
WHO BENEFITS from this? The cynical politicians who FAIL every day. They hide behind the Bok’s green and gold while their inaction and corruption make the team’s unity mission more desperate every year. The silence from the powerful is DEAFENING.
We are now a country where our last shred of common hope wears a rugby jersey.
What happens when even they get tired of carrying the entire nation?
