WARNING: CONTROVERSIAL AND PROVOCATIVE CONTENT AHEAD!
In a move that’s sure to ruffle feathers, the AfriGames Consortium has launched a bold plan to shift South Africa’s gaming industry from being a mere consumer-driven market to a powerhouse of game production. Led by the enigmatic Raymond Ledwaba, this cabal of entities is hell-bent on catapulting the country to the top of the global gaming scene, much to the chagrin of international giants like FIFA, Minecraft, Fortnite, and Roblox.
At the helm of this revolution is ITThynk Gaming, a company that’s already making waves with its subsidiary, Disputed People, which is cooking up an adventure game called "Khamani, The Lion of Summer." But don’t be fooled – this is not just about creating more skins for Fortnite. No, no. This is about harnessing the creative potential of the African continent and unleashing it onto the world.
The consortium has secured a whopping R12.9 million in funding from the Jobs Fund, matched by member contributions, valued at a whopping R25.8 million. The plan? To create six small, medium, and micro-sized enterprises (SMMEs), generating 152 jobs and training 121 young people over the next two years.
But don’t believe the hype – this is about more than just creating jobs. It’s about creating a new narrative, one where Africans aren’t just passive consumers of Western-made games, but active producers, driving the industry forward with their own unique stories, perspectives, and gameplay.
"We’re not going to be just a footnote in someone else’s game," Ledwaba thundered. "We’re going to be the ones creating the game, dictating the rules, and pocketing the profits. It’s time to stop being a producer and start being a producer."
Join the revolution, and get ready to be part of the most unapologetic, in-your-face, and unstoppable gaming movement the world has ever seen. Will you be a part of it?
