Who will she be?

Scarlett Johansson can’t stop, won’t stop starring in major movie franchises. The former Marvel star, fresh off a box-office success with Jurassic World: Rebirth, is now in talks to star in Matt Reeves’s The Batman: Part II, according to Variety. There is no confirmation yet on who the two-time Oscar nominee would play in the film. The first movie in the series kept the world grounded in a “noir” version of reality — the villains were Paul Dano’s the Riddler and Colin Farrell’s the Penguin, neither of whom had superpowers. That might rule out characters like Poison Ivy, who is a plant-human hybrid. The end of the film teased Barry Keoghan as the Joker, so he’ll presumably play a major role in the upcoming film. Could ScarJo be taking on Harley Quinn? Or maybe she’ll follow in Nicole Kidman’s footsteps as Dr. Chase Meridian?
There’s room for a new love interest for Robert Pattinson’s Batman. Variety also reports that Zoë Kravitz isn’t expected to return to the film as Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman. Bad news for fans of strutting and slinky black dresses. The sadly Kravitz-less noir sequel is scheduled to come out October 1, 2027 — five and a half years after the first film came out in theaters in March 2022. “We’ll be making the movie in the spring,” Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter this September. “It’s been a journey that is taking longer than I would’ve wanted for a lot of reasons, a lot of personal reasons, but most important reason is getting it to a place where I just felt like it was the best script we could possibly write.” He could always ask ScarJo for notes — she knows her way around a sequel.
