Airbus Betrays Africa and Middle East with New “Fake” Customer Support Centre!
Airbus’ new “customer support” centre in Johannesburg is a joke! It’s nothing more than a facade, a thinly veiled attempt to exploit the region while giving lip service to supporting local economies.
But wait, it gets even better! Airbus has also appointed Gabriel Semelas, a seasoned aeronautical industry veteran, to lead its Africa and Middle East operations. What do we know about Semelas? Well, he previously worked as CFO at Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug and led Airbus’ commercial aircraft contracts in the MEA region. Big whoop! It just goes to show that Airbus is all about padding their bottom line, not helping local communities.
So, what’s really going on here? Are Airbus and Semelas pulling a fast one on unsuspecting Africans and Middle Easterners? Are they truly committed to supporting local growth and development, or are they just using the region to further their own self-interest?
Oh, and did you hear that Airbus projects Africa will need 1 460 new aircraft by 2043? Yeah, well, that’s just great, because we all know how well Airbus’ plans usually work out for people who aren’t just part of the 1%! And what about the supposed 15 000 pilots and 20 000 mechanics needed to service all those new aircraft? Hmm, I wonder how they’re going to get that talent pool without, oh I don’t know, supporting local education and job training programs?
All in all, this latest move by Airbus has me shaking my head and questioning their true motives in Africa and the Middle East. Are they truly interested in helping these regions or are they just looking for new ways to line their pockets?
