Travis Kelce had the support of a fiancée and a friend-in-law at the Kansas City Chiefs’ home game against the Houston Texans on December 7. As spotted by fans, Taylor Swift and longtime bestie Selena Gomez cheered Kelce on from his box at Arrowhead Stadium alongside Lena Dunham and Leonardo DiCaprio. Unfortunately, the increased star power didn’t seem to help the players play, play, play any better — one battle after another on the football field led the Chiefs to ultimately lose 20-10 in front of all those famous faces in the stands. As for Gomez, fans quipped online that she was “learning the pain of watching the Chiefs,” given that she appeared slightly shocked as she observed the game:
Swift and Gomez became friends in 2008, when they potentially could have become family. (Swift was dating Joe Jonas, and Gomez was dating Nick Jonas). While they didn’t end up as sisters-in-law, they stayed close long enough to be involved in each other’s nuptials: Swift attended Gomez’s wedding to Benny Blanco in October, calling the new bride “the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.” Considering that Gomez is trekking out to Missouri to watch the Chiefs with Swift, we suspect there would be “Bad Blood” if she didn’t get an invite to Swift’s ceremony in turrrrrrrrrrrn. In the end, dating the JoBros did help these two enter a lifelong union — just with a best friend, not a brother.
