Of course, no parent wants to wake up for their kid in the middle of the night. But if you dislike waking up at odd hours because your kid needs you, you probably just shouldn’t have kids in the first place, because they do that a lot.
It’s odd that this Mom was so upset about needing to pick her kid up from the sleepover! Lots of people just couldn’t figure out what her problem was — like, why was she so upset with the sleepover host Mom? Was she embarrassed or something? Was she just annoyed that her kid couldn’t handle a night away?
I hope that the host Mom doesn’t internalize this criticism, because she did everything right! She tried to get the girl to stay over by comforting her, but when that didn’t go over well, what else was she supposed to do? That kid wanted to go home, and she probably felt a lot better after getting home to her Mom.
It’s not like this type of childhood behavior reflects badly on the parent, either. Some children are just sensitve to that kind of thing. They can still enjoy sleepover parties, too! They just need to get picked up by Mom or Dad at bedtime when all the other kids are going to bed.
