MEXICO’S JOURNALIST EXTERMINATION CONTINUES: A reporter who TRUSTED the government to protect him has been EXECUTED in broad daylight, proving once again that state-sponsored “protection” is a DEATH WARRANT.
Carlos Castro, a director of the outlet Código Norte Veracruz, was GUNNED DOWN in a Poza Rica restaurant just months after being forced to flee the state. SHOCKINGLY, Castro was an official beneficiary of the Veracruz State Commission for the Attention and Protection of Journalists. He was on their list. He had government-ordered bodyguards. And it meant NOTHING.
This isn’t just another murder. This is a SYSTEMATIC ELIMINATION. Castro had already run for his life once, relocating to Guanajuato state in 2024. He returned, believing promises of safety. His brutal killing sends a CHILLING MESSAGE to every reporter in Mexico: There is NO SAFE PLACE. The cartels and their collaborators within the state apparatus will find you.
With Castro’s death, the grim tally for 2025 begins. Mexico remains a GRAVEYARD for the free press, where government commissions offer worthless pieces of paper instead of real security, and investigations lead to eternal silence. The so-called “protective measures” are a CRUEL JOKE, a facade for international observers while the blood continues to stain the streets.
The truth has been murdered in Veracruz, and the entire nation is being held hostage by the very forces allegedly tasked with stopping the violence. When the protectors are part of the plot, who is left to tell the story?
