Social Silence is Dead: ‘Meet Seen’ Spies on Your Laughter

The Toxic Trend of Forced Reaction Videos: Seen App Spreads Narcissism and FOMO

Are you tired of feeling like you’re just a mere spectator in your friend’s lives? Do you yearn for the validation of a "lit" reaction emoji, but cringe at the thought of sending a boring old text message? Well, buckle up, folks, because Seen, the new social app, is here to ruin everything.

Founded by Faheem Kajee, a seasoned entrepreneur with a penchant for mediocrity, and Karen Gillan, a Hollywood actress who clearly has too much free time on her hands, Seen is the latest attempt to monetize our collective insecurities. The app allows you to send videos to your friends, but with a twist: they have to record a video response, and you have to reciprocate with your own reaction video. It’s like a never-ending cycle of validation-seeking and social comparison.

But wait, it gets worse. Seen has partnered with TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels, because who doesn’t want to be bombarded with even more algorithm-driven content? And, of course, the app has to include ads, because what’s a social media platform without the constant reminder that you’re just a product to be sold?

But don’t worry, Seen’s founders are aware of the existential crisis that is modern social media. They claim to want to create a platform that fosters "authentic and engaging" interactions, but let’s be real, it’s just a thinly veiled attempt to monetize our insecurities and FOMO.

And what about the investors? Oh, Twitter co-founder Ev Williams, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin, and the rest of the who’s who of tech industry bigwigs have thrown their weight behind Seen. Because, of course, they want a piece of the action. Who wouldn’t?

So, if you’re ready to surrender your sanity to the whims of social media, then Seen is the app for you. But if you value your self-worth and don’t want to be reduced to a mere reaction emoji, then maybe it’s time to take a step back and reevaluate your online habits.

Update: Seen has already received a whopping $1 million in funding, because, of course, investors are always eager to throw their money at the latest social media fad.
