Starliner Disaster Unfolds: Another Failed Boeing Mission
Boeing’s hapless Starliner mission comes to a close… empty-handed. Literally. After 93 DAYS in orbit, the Space Station-bound spacecraft is finally returning to Earth, minus its crew.
The incompetence is compounded: NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams were forced to abandon all hope, leaving Starliner to its own devices on Friday evening. They’ll miss the thrilling conclusion, packed with drama and uncertainty: a landing that’s scheduled for the dead of night.
This $4.2 billion contract was destined to fail from the onset. Launched on June 5, Starliner struggled to stay afloat, plagued by technical gremlins and malfunctioning thrusters. NASA finally cut its losses, cancelling the crew’s return… just like they did
after dodging a bullet with early propulsion issues). Will Boeing ever learn the secrets of the universe?
Wilmore and Williams will have 9 long months to ponder NASA’s betrayal on the cold, unforgiving platform they call home. On the bright side, those same astronauts will get hitch a ride back to shore… courtesy of SpaceX. Looks like the competition (ahem, Elon), might just outshine IBM again.
