Hey, if any hockey-based HBO shows are looking for their next stars, we have a duo to suggest. Superman star David Corenswet and Wicked: For Good heartthrob Jonathan Bailey interviewed each other for “Actors on Actors,” and while they didn’t kiss, they did get intimate. In both films, the actors kiss their respective love interests while levitating; the difference is, as Corenswet marvels, while his Clark Kent lifts Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) into the air, Bailey is “carried by Cynthia,” as Fiyero and Elphaba, respectively — physically, that is, during the song “As Long As You’re Mine.” “She’s levitating you,” emphasized Corenswet, who once played Ben Platt’s boyfriend on The Politician. “Every man out there would think there’s no way you can look masculine and powerful and in control when you’re being levitated by a woman. And you, in that moment when she’s lifting you by your fucking massive arms, maintained your masculinity. Well done, mate. Because it’s a lot easier when you’re carrying the girl.”
“It was, like, a total honor,” Bailey fixes his face to respond, neatly sidestepping the masculinity comments that have since prompted backlash. “I’ll be carried by Cynthia and Ari for the rest of my life if I could be. What a treat to come and do my bit and share a moment like that. Even technically, to be in a harness and opposite her while singing, it’s incredible.” There’s a way to fix this: The next time they talk about kissing can be on Heated Rivalry season two. At one point, Corenswet asks Bailey, “How do you top ‘Sexiest Man Alive?’” Well, there’s one way to find out.
