A team of snooping researchers has ripped apart the security of popular dating apps like Bumble, Hinge, and Grindr, revealing that they were vulnerable to hacks that could pinpoint the location of users within mere meters. The disturbing discovery leaves millions of users wondering if they’ve been secretly stalked or hacked by malicious users.
According to the researchers’ findings, several top dating apps allowed users to easily track the location of others down to a mere 2 meters. That’s close enough to raise serious privacy concerns, especially for those who use dating apps to connect with others in the hopes of finding love or companionship.
But the researchers didn’t stop there. They also discovered that a malicious individual could pinpoint the location of Grindr users to a whopping 111 meters – close enough to reveal a user’s exact location, even in densely populated areas.
