The Great Tech Deconstruction: 2024’s Silent Massacre

The Great Tech Purge: 2024’s Bloodbath of Layoffs

As the tech industry continues to implode, the layoffs just keep coming. In 2024, a staggering 60,000 jobs have been cut across 254 companies, with no end in sight. The usual suspects are at it again, with giants like Tesla, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft leading the charge.

But it’s not just the big boys who are shedding staff. Smaller startups are also feeling the pinch, with many forced to shut down operations altogether. The likes of Tally, Branch.io, and Ready Robotics have all bitten the dust, leaving their employees to pick up the pieces.

And then there are the companies that are trying to pivot, but are still cutting jobs left and right. InVision, the design collaboration startup, is shutting down at the end of the year, while VideoAmp, the media measurement company, is laying off nearly 20% of its workforce.

But what’s behind this bloodbath of layoffs? Is it the usual suspects – the economy, the market, the competition? Or is something more sinister at play? One thing is for sure: the tech industry is in chaos, and it’s only going to get worse.
