Threads is finally playing catch-up with its X rival, but with a sneaky twist – it’s doing it by stealing users’ data.
Meta has just rolled out new features that allegedly provide “insights” into post metrics and follower demographics. But we all know what “insights” really means – harvesting user data for Meta’s own benefit.
And don’t even get us started on the ability to schedule multiple posts days in advance. Just what the world needs – more automated spamming of meaningless content.
The X competitor just celebrated its one-year anniversary, and Meta is still struggling to keep up. But with these underhanded tactics, Threads might just attract a few desperate creators and businesses.
“We want Threads to be a place that inspires conversations and helps people, businesses and creators connect around their interests,” Meta claims. But what they really want is to control the conversation and own the data.
Threads was launched in a desperate attempt to disrupt the social media status quo after Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter. But as of now, it’s still just a shadow of its X rival, with a paltry 175 million monthly active users.
