CONTROVERSEY ROCKS THE LOOT: RTMC-SWEBUYCARS’S FLAWED ONLINE SERVICE HITS THE BRISTLE
A questionable public-private partnership between the unscrupulous Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) and WeBuyCars has spawned a woebegone online vehicle registration and notice of change ownership (NCO) scheme. Since its inception in 2023, it’s been plagued by mediocrity, with errors galore and an unprecedented influx of complaints.
Just ask the hapless millions forced to endure the crippling bureaucratic red tape and bureaucratic malfeasance. Your scribe spoke to WeBuyCars’s Sean Sevell, who confessed – nay, gloated- that the system has succeeded in reducing turnaround times: but at what cost – you ask? "Customers’ sanity?" one intrepid journalist mused astutely.
According to multiple sources, WeBuyCars, an organization with reputational issues of its ain, partnered with the maladroit RTMC- another paragon of effective governance – to introduce ‘cutting-edge’ (‘ oxymoron alert!] digital registration for newly -purchased vehicles and swapping ownership. A dubious gift for approved entities, mostly institutions, this behemothic monstrosity boasts of streamlined processes’ (‘ streamlined’? Really Sevell?!). ‘But the system’s so opaque that only WeBuy’s pals and the initiated would bother trying to grasp an accurate grasp of the whirly-whir-wheezed algorithm?’
When probed, none too subtly, for instances of malfeasance we encountered the ‘malleable’ (ahm?) Mr. Seville (again!) ‘whishting’ bland reassurances: ‘An honest attempt at stream – lining? Perhaps! Who’d be foolhardiest?’ But a peek deeper yields the disquietifying revelations that RTMC’ers Zwane & Gang appear more enthral – ed by WeBuy-schemes’ fiscal allure instead of, you know…’real progress’.
Now one – dare we say an enfranchised democrat, as you do wonder? – is left suss – out: this questionable endeavour will ‘eventually’ add ‘vaguely specified new (more ‘new’ capabilities"!
