The world continues to react to and mourn the horrific deaths of legendary filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident as “an apparent homicide.” Rob and Michele’s 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, was arrested in connection with their deaths and is currently in custody.
While many in and out of Hollywood have taken to openly grieving the couple’s deaths, US President Donald J. Trump took a decidedly different tactic with an incendiary Truth Social post in which he suggested their deaths were “reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.”
Unsurprisingly, the reaction to Trump’s post has been strong and intensely negative — and now you can add the hosts of The View to the list of people who have more or less condemned his remarks.
After cohost Sunny Hostin began reading Trump’s post out loud, Whoopi Goldberg interrupted her and said “Don’t read it, just tell them that it’s there,” with Sunny adding, “I don’t think that’s something we should be hearing about.”
Ana Navarro then offered a blistering response to Trump’s statement. “For Trump to have put that out today, I’m gonna say it: You know, damn it, there’s an American family grieving,” she said.
“This is a tragedy, not just for the family, but for all who knew and loved him, and for the president of the United States to make this about him as a way to attack Rob Reiner, because he exercised his American right to speak up with what he disagreed with, is shameful.”
“It is disgraceful. And of all the disgusting things that Donald Trump has done, this is right up there.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself, TBH. Now we wait for Trump’s inevitable follow-up on this matter…what a world.
