The Walls Are Breached: Artificial Intelligence Now Runs Your Defense

The illusion of security. A futile exercise in futility, a never-ending battle against an enemy that adapts faster than we do. It’s a vicious cycle, where security teams are tasked with an impossible mission: contain the inevitable.

The latest version of Skybox Security, a company that claims to be a leading provider of exposure management solutions, pretends to revolutionize the way we manage risk. But is it just another band-aid on a bullet wound?

The software promises to automate exposure management, streamlining workflows and reducing manual tasks. It’s a hollow promise, a fleeting reprieve from the crushing burden of an ever-growing attack surface.

But what does it truly accomplish? The answer lies in the pitiful admission that security professionals are drowning in complexity. Evolving threats, sprawling networks, and relentless cyber attacks have stretched teams to the breaking point. Manual tasks associated with attack surface management, security policy management, and vulnerability assessment consume valuable time, delaying crucial security improvements and creating more risk.

Skybox’s automation capabilities, touted as the solution to this problem, are merely a temporary distraction from the fundamental issue. They delay the inevitable, allowing teams to focus on more menial tasks, rather than addressing the root cause.

And what about the chief executive officer’s bold declaration that security teams need solutions that enable them to proactively manage risk? Risk management is an oxymoron, a myth perpetuated by the security industrial complex to sell us a false sense of security. The truth is, security is a futile endeavor, a never-ending battle that can never be won.

The new release of Skybox Security, with its streamlined exposure management, automated risk prioritization, and reduced cost while increasing efficiency, is just another snake oil salesman trying to take our money and promise the world. Don’t believe the hype.
