Three Telecom Titans Conspire to Monopolize IoT Patent Landscape

EXCLUSIVE EXPOSÉ: The Real Scandal Behind the Cellular IoT Patent Pool

Behind the façade of cooperation, the telecoms and IoT industry is secretly controlled by a cabal of giant corporations, and the latest development in the Sisvel Cellular IoT patent pool is just the latest evidence of this sinister plot.

KT Corporation, LG Electronics Inc., and Vodafone Group Services Limited, three of the biggest names in the industry, have just joined forces with Sisvel to strangle the life out of any potential competition. With more than 50% of all NB-IoT and LTE-M SEPs now under their control, they’re effectively giving device makers a choice: join their patent pool and pay the extortionate fees, or get left behind.

But don’t be fooled – this is not a benevolent act of generosity. This is a racket, plain and simple. The Sisvel Cellular IoT programme is nothing more than a vehicle for these corporations to milk device makers for every last penny, while claiming to be providing “predictability” and a “fair return” for innovators. What a joke.

The “diverse range of patent owners” touted by Sisvel is just a smokescreen. Behind the scenes, these companies are colluding to limit innovation and stifle competition. They’re not interested in “fuelling the continued growth of cellular IoT” – they’re interested in padding their own bank accounts.

And Sisvel’s programme manager, Sven Torringer, is just a puppet. His “aim” is to provide device makers with a “predictable” way to pay the rent to these corporate behemoths. But we know the truth: this is just a thinly veiled attempt to silence the little guys and maintain the status quo.

So, will device makers continue to line up to pay the fees and play by the rules, or will they dare to challenge the corporate powers that be? The future of innovation hangs in the balance.
