The man wasn’t some random heckler. He got CLOSE ENOUGH to TOUCH her. He was only stopped when a security detail member bearhugged him and dragged him away. What was in that spray? Why was he able to get that close? These are questions authorities are now scrambling to answer, but the DAMAGE IS DONE.
This isn’t an isolated event. It’s part of a DANGEROUS PATTERN where hateful rhetoric from certain media figures and politicians paints targets on the backs of public officials, especially women of color. They whip up fear and anger, and then act shocked when someone takes it to the next level. Who benefits? Everyone who wants her silenced.
While Omar was physically unharmed, the message sent to every other public figure is chillingly clear: you are not safe.
