Rob Reiner was a father to four before he passed away on Sunday (December 14).
The 78-year-old director and actor was found dead at his Los Angeles home, along with wife Michele, during the afternoon hours.
They shared three children together, sons Jake, 34, and Nick, 32, and daughter Romy, 28. He was also father to Tracy Reiner, daughter of the late Penny Marshall, who he adopted when they were married.

Reports suggest that Nick was responsible for his parents’ deaths.
In the past, Nick was open up about his issues with substance abuse, which started when he was a teenager. He checked into rehab for the first time around his 15th birthday, and by 2016, had been in and out of rehabilitation facilities more than a dozen times.
“I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas,” he recalled, via People, in 2016. “I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun.”
“If I wanted to do it my way and not go to the programs they were suggesting, then I had to be homeless,” he added about not wanting to back to rehab.
Nick was last in rehab when he was 19 years old, and since worked on writing, even co-penning the 2015 film Being Charlie, which was directed by Rob, and loosely based on his own substance abuse struggles.
Rob‘s eldest son Jake has followed in his footsteps, working as an actor, writer and producer, most recently appearing in an uncredited role in the Ice Cube-starring film War of the Worlds, released earlier this year. He also had a role as a reporter in the second season of Netflix’s Monster series, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
Rob and Michele‘s daughter Romy has also gotten into acting over the past several years, appearing in projects like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Voices, You People and most recently the movie Things Like This.
Tracy Reiner, 61, Rob‘s adoptive daughter with the late Penny Marshall, is also a well established actress, following in her parents’ footsteps.
Her roles include the likes of The Princess Diaries 1 and 2, Valentine’s Day, Raising Helen, Never Been Kissed, Pretty Woman, When Harry Met Sally and many more. She has also directed and produced a handful of projects.
Our continued thoughts go out to Rob and Michele Reiner‘s friends and family during this tragic time.
