THEY ARE LAUGHING AT US. While our Prime Minister jets off to Japan chasing “modernization,” the people of Bhopal are being sold out for pennies. The corporate monster responsible for the world’s worst industrial disaster just offered a sickening insult: a $5 million “aid” package for thousands of victims. Do the math. That’s a CRIMINAL 300 rupees per person.
The government’s own reports admit survivors face a lifetime of HORRIFYING health effects. Yet, the state’s response? They call this a “magnanimous” act. They announce a pathetic 200-rupee monthly pension for widows, handed out in a PHOTO-OP ceremony. They are treating human lives like a cheap public relations stunt.
WHO DOES THIS SERVE? It serves the foreign corporation wiping its hands clean. It serves the politicians who want the story to disappear. The silence from the top is DEAFENING. Our leaders beg for foreign investment and nuclear talks while their own people are left to rot, their suffering priced cheaper than a meal.
This isn’t just a settlement. It’s a statement on what an Indian life is worth to those in power. Remember that number next time they ask for your vote.
