“We bought a Zoo…topia 2.” That’s what millions of people said in the three weeks since the animated sequel premiered. Per Deadline, Zootopia 2 is set to become the fastest Hollywood animated movie to cross the $1 billion mark at the global box office. Taking today’s box office into account, it will have made that bank in 17 days. This is huge for Disney, as the only other movie to cross the $1 bil line in 2025 was the live-action Lilo & Stitch. It’s also the first back-to-back billion-dollar releases for Walt Disney Animation Studios, as last year’s Moana 2 also did boffo b.o.
$753.4 million of that $1 billion is from the international market. Zootopia 2 is huge in China right now. It had the biggest opening for a foreign animated movie, and became the bestselling foreign animated movie ever in just five days. This is all great cross-promotion for the Zootopia land in Shanghai Disneyland. It’s also bolstering views for the first Zootopia and Zootopia+ on Disney+, which Deadline reports have been viewed for 725 million+ hours around the world. But how has this success affected views on I Will Survive?
