We understand that older siblings often feel entitled to certain luxuries, but just because they feel that way does not make it true. The author’s sister is old enough to know better. This isn’t high school anymore, honey! 

If the sister were polite enough to ask for a short-term favor and if she was willing to give something in return, maybe we could understand a world in which the author would agree to let her stay with him. Even if he did, that would be a level of generosity that he did not necessarily have to demonstrate. One has to wonder if this very sense of entitlement has something to do with the downfall of her former relationship. I’m not pointing any fingers, but it certainly seems like she’s part of the problem here.
